so i'm finally 19 on this day, august 8, 2008 08:08
...yup that's all 8 except for my age which is a 9
...really just so happen that in the later years of my life that i ended up liking the number 8
its also funny coz this entry also is my 8th entry here at livejournal...and i really didn't plan that....

i've always loved my birthday[who doesn't?] is that august starts with the letter "A"
some of the things that i and everyone at my school wouldnt like about it is that it usually falls on an exam week or day at least in my lower levels of education, now there's no school during my birthday ü [reason?see 1st link to multiply blog below...]

also what's happening on this very day is the opening of the beijing olympics 2008
...it's said that the chinese like the number 8... they believe that its good luck...
it has something to do with the chinese character that sounds like it if i'm right

also august 8 means father's day in chinese customs...also has to do with the chinese characters, coz dad in chinese and the number eight in chinese sound alike, as in the pinyin is ba-ba-father and ba-ba-august 8.it's spelled as that but u pronounce it as "papa" :P

eight in math means infinity...

Entry#7 - Feeling the Pressure

It's been a while since my last entry

just random thoughts are going through my head today

no HW to worry about

...

after the first two months of school, it was just these 2 weeks [July 14-25,2008] that passed that I felt that heavy workload and pressure on my shoulders

lots of school stuff and deadlines that has to be done

for tv prod...

after we came back from shooting at Bolinao, we had to go back and concentrate and prepare for the 1st show, had to edit everything especially since at the time the practice run for the show was coming up...i had to work fast...in the end on july 24th i was late for class, everyone was looking for me and our prof was getting mad, i was at home finishing the editing and burning at the last moment, when i came to the studio i was breathing heavily to find that the previous groups was finishing up...which was good, it gave me time to rest...*sigh*

for sociocomm...

had a paper to finish, she was also giving us quizzes almost every meeting, a report was coming up, she was assigning us journal articles and readings...we really, seriously didnt want to do it

for scriptwriting...

character profile, coming home late to finish the movie for the character profile...making a perquel/sequel will be the next assignment

for spanish...

nothing really just a quiz and the "actividades"...but i feel like im not learning anything in this subject...

for lit...

has to answer stuff online, groupings answer...

for adver...

the stressful report especially because on the night before the report[submission of written and ppt + really reporting on the next day] we had a "brown out" right about the time i was gonna start and summarize the written report plus making the ppt...

for exp psych...

actually not really stressful...we just sit and listen and we even looked at a cadaver for class that's why we were able to shoot from saturday to monday without classes on sat...

for filipino...

the blog, question to answer, and the stressful time consuming haven't even started translation for filipino but as i know, it will be treated as prelims...consecutive no classes so the blog and Q's were pushed to another date...

and to top all that we had 1-2 weeks to prepare for ivy's birthday, not to offend my sister, but it really was a big fuss! probably because it's the 18th birthday and that the day i came back from shooting out travel show [which was july 12-14] that everything was finally decided...

Entry#6 - My Grades

Went to school today....

Why???

I have a workshop to attend at TOMCAT though it's already vacation time, time for fun at the beach they say...no more stress for another two months but hey the workshop we have is roughly two weeks and i get to learn so much about tv production, the technical side in advance and i find these things enjoyable...

so yeah i came in and my friend told me i can check my grades at the computer there outside the hall at the reception desk...which is a lot more easy compared to falling in line at the main building for like 3 hours...so checked the grades of other people first...

i was too afraid to look at mine first coz' of the thought of seeing a failing mark on the screen

so finally i looked at mine...

YES!!! no failing mark!!! though there were some low grades...but that didnt matter, as long as i know that ive passed all my subjects this semester

here are my grades:

ENG 104 - 2.5
MATH 600A - 2.75
NS 201 - 3.0
PHIST - 2.75
PHL 3A - 3.0
RC - 2.25
CA 203 - 1.25
SCL 3 - 1.25
PE [FOOTBALL/SOCCER] - 1.0
NSTP LTS 2 - 1.75


at least its better than last semester's that i will finally announced to the public that i got a failing mark in NatSci#1, i never really wanted people to know that coz i felt ashamed of it, i mean who wouldn't right?i especially didnt want my blockmates to know it coz i felt as if they would look down on me even more...but im better now i can finally admit it and finally close that chapter of my life.

I hope to do better next semester, hopefully get a high enough grade to be in the Dean's List.

Entry#5 - Procrastination, Deadlines

music: nothing..only the echo of the tv from the living room
I know that there are many papers and projects that are pilling up and most are due next week until the week after next week....I know that there are many papers and projects that are pilling up and most are due next week until the week after next week....
yet here i am writing this blog...once again i am in a familiar place...in my world of procrastination
it is so familiar yet i must avoid this place as much as possible...

deadlines are killing me...

1. Philo term paper on Maurice Merleau-Ponty - ive started to gather sources but i have to read them all and theyre A LOT like a book thick of readings this is due March 6 thanks for the much-wanted extension [something to be thankful for]
2. Theo finals paper that i have not started to write [individual paper] but we will meet tomorrow to have our group discussion
3. commercial — already met with my group but well have to rush everything next week for shooting and editing
4. LTS - the poster that pacific will do instead [thank you pacific] but I still need to give the pictures, and the video for the exhibit, if I dont submit this all of us in class will get a grade of "incomplete" [no pressure right]?
5. A poster for my friends play that i have to finish over the weekend...one of the easiest task in the list

i think thats it for now

Entry#04 - My New Lens!

Chinese New Year's Eve today
also the day that I bought my new lens Ü...
it's a second hand sigma 50-200mm f4-5.6 telephoto lens
with hood and a UV filter was also part of the set

story...
*two to three weeks before Chinese New Year*
I was checking my mail as usual
then I saw a message from Digital Photography Philippines Multiply page
coz usually Multiply sends the individual messages from groups and whatever
there was this one member who posted that he was selling his lens for a very fair price
that's in my price range...i was intrigued...
so I browsed his multiply page and looked at the photos he took with those lens
so i commented his page regarding the product
i saw that he lived far away(he indicated the meetups)
and was concerned how i was gonna go to mandaluyong
and that lots of people have commented saying they were interested
but anyway i still commented...
he asked where i lived...so i answered "Binondo"
then he said that he was gonna be around Binondo around Chinese New Year
so i was like "i so wanna buy it" mode and was really tempted
but i was thinking if i really should and that i didnt have the money but then i thought
"Wait, i can buy this with my Christmas money!"
i then commented the guy and said i'll PM him about my final decision later...
but still i was hesitant...
so i inquired my mom
told her i was interested...
and told her about the price and the other infos...
she said it was up to me really
so i contemplated on it more...and thought it through
i researched on the product and looked at the prices they posted
it was certainly evident that the price he gave me was really cheaper that the ones posted
the more i looked at the infos in front of me, the more i was sure/certain that i should buy it
so finally i decided to buy it
i then commented him later that night that i was gonna buy it
then he said okay, he'll PM me when he's around manila coz he was out of town...

*the next week or two before Chinese New Year*
I PMed him then and again
inquiring when exactly meet up and where
he later PMed me and said he'll text me when he's around
and he gave me his number

i texted him my number and PM/text him time and again bout the infos and all confiming price and everything

*2days-the day before the pickup*
he texted me Monday [Feb 4] that he was already in town and that i should text him if i'm ready to pick it up

i texted him Tuesday [Feb 5] that i can pickup the lens tomorrow
he texted back that we'll meet at Robinson's Place at 3pm, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf located at the 2nd flor Midtown

*Day of pickup, eve of Chinese New Year*
came at RP at 4:20(he texted to meet him at 4 instead but it was super traffic hence the lateness)
came with my mom coz she had concerns about the product and wanted to oversee if it was in tiptop shape or not and she was shocked to learn i was purchasing it from a guy i met in the internet, she was afraid that i was gonna be tricked and the product was not as good as they say it was

so met him at the coffee shop, he was at the outside of the place 4 tables form the door
i checked the lens immeadiately [took some photos]
while my mom interviewed him about the product where he lived and where he bought the lens and how long he's had it
when i was finished checking, i thanked him and was preparing to leave
he asked me what kind of photographer i was [what i was leaning on, macro, portrait..etc]
and how many lens ive had and said this was the first purchase of other lens aside from what i bought with the dslr kit
i told him i was leaning more on portraits
and he recommended Canon lens 50mm with f1.8 and i can buy it at Glorietta
(photoworld is located at Glorietta and also where he bought this lens)
and that this was cheap and that the lens are good if i'm leaning on portrait photos
i thanked him for the info and went off

after that, me and mom went around RP

right now i'm happy with the lens and still trying it out
im now considering buying the lens he recommeded but for that to happen i need to go to Glorietta[i dunno when that'll happen coz i dont go there often and its so far from home]or Quiapo[more possible] still have to canvas from both places in any case
and realized i need to buy another UV filter,
[my old lens needs a 58mm UV filter size, while the one he had with the set was 55mm :P]
oh well...

for now, i'm still contemplating if i want to be more on portraits, macro or what i dunno
oh well, i still have time, right now i'll just enjoy the new lens ÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜ

Entry#02 - Overnight for Broadquest "Youth Tube"

For this semester for our major subject CA203 (Broadquest Media) we learn about the TRI-media namely print, radio and tv.  Every year around this time sophomore students of C.A (communication arts) are to have an output sponsored by the CASA Channel. This year though it is quite different from the previous years because previously the outputs were a PSA(public service announcement), MTV and docu. This year though we are to have one output, a 15-20 minute show....youth oriented show is the theme this year.

We finally decided to do the editing of our final output at my place/house on Saturday (December 15,2007). The previous day was the day of our concert at covenant,(The Covenant Singers: Songs of the Faith, December 14,2007) so come that morning I was kinda still sleepy and a wee bit groggy I believe. I remembered that I was supposed to go to a sort of meeting earlier that Saturday morning at 10 am, sadly I was too tired from the day before that I woke up at 11:30 instead of 9:30...*oh well* SinceI came home late the night before, I wasnt able to fix the house to be set up for the overnight. So when I woke up I was all "oh no, i have to fix the house" haha I think that took long, I was thankful that was my brother was home, coz he helped me set up the place. Also because of that, I believe I made Meng and the others wait too long...by the time we started it was already 4pm.

Entry#01 - Sembreak workshop

this is going to be my first online journal entry it seems.....

today i will share to you, the public, my experience during the recent sembreak workshop at TOMCAT which takes up the first two weeks of the semestral break (the supposed break was from October 15 -November 6, 2007...three long weeks)

in the beginning i admit...i didnt really wanna go. why? well i was just lazy and going to the workshop would mean sacrificing my first two weeks of freedom from any school related activities....going to the workshop would mean seeing UST everyday...that i (didnt want to do...how did i end up going??? well i told my mom i wanted to go see if the workshop was ok and that i would learn fromit...going would require me to pass a waiver form so i consulted my mom).

so on i went...

so i sat there a wee bit late for my firstday...saw judyjoy and annabeth....saw ate yam and other people that were probably the people attending the workshop and people in charge.

then we proceeded by gathering around, then we had our get-to-know-each-other games with kuya karl as the one who led the games...

then later we started in our workshop

series of workshops were conducted throughout the week until the next then did some exercises like filming an inaudible short to apply what we learned about shots...but the major things we did was the valuead-short commercial that wants to teach a certain lesson, ours was honesty...draw lots-and the 5-minute documentary for the upcoming D'Catch Philippines 2008

twas fun, u get to experience ust in a totally different way, all quiet with almost zero people around

now just looking forward to few more days of vacation and to see my blockmates again, also D'catch sound interesting around right now...
